Ⅰ.Teaching Aims
Make the pupils learn to describe the appearances, using the adjectives“big ”、“small ”、“long ”and “short ”

Ⅳ.Teaching Procedures
Step1 Warming up and Revision
1、 Greetings
2、 Sing and act out a song—“Let’s Point” to revise the names of the body
Step2 Presentation
Teacher:(show a big book) Look! What’s this?
Pupils:It’s a book.
Teacher:Yes,it’s a big book.
Teacher:(show a small book) What’s that?
Pupils:It’s a book,too.
Teacher:Yes,it’s a small book.
3、Teach the words “big ”and “small” with body languages.
4、Teacher:(show a long ruler and a short ruler) Look again! I have two rulers.
This is a long ruler. That is a short ruler.
5、Teach the words “long ”and “short ”with body languages.
6、Differentiate the four adjectives.
Step3 Practice
1、 Let the pupils think about how to use the four adjectives to describe the pictures
of the face they have drawn.
2、 Pupils introduce the pictures one by one.Such as :a big nose,a small mouth,long
hair,big eyes,etc.
3、 Quick response
(Divide the whole class into two groups.A Pupil in group one says a phrase,one of
the pupils in group two should response a phrase of the opposite meaning.Then
exchange.
Such as :long hair—short hair,a small nose—a big nose,etc.
Step4 Listen and Read
1、Play the cassette and let the pupils read after it.
2、Read after the teacher.
Step5 Look,Listen and Say
Look at the picture of the computer,listen to a girl’s self-introduction
And imitate her to introduce their own appearances.
Example:Hi,I’m Grace.
I have long hair.
I have big eyes.
I have a small nose.
I have a small mouth,too.
I have small ears.
Step6 Game:Find the Spy
1、 Look at four persons in the computer.
2、 Listen to the clues of the spy and finish the exercise.
Exercise:She is tall.
She has_____( long/short) hair.
She has big eyes.
She has a _____(big/small) nose.
She has a _____(big/small)mouth.
She has _____(big/small)ears.
She has a _____(big/small)face.
Pupils help the policemen find the spy.
Step7 Practice
Pupils make up stories in groups to find the new spy or person.
Teacher describes a person’s appearance and ask one pupil to stick the parts of the face on the blackboard.
Step8 Homework
Pupils stick the pictures of the parts of the face they have drawn in groups to make a new person.
